BASEBALL GAMES

Softball and hardball leagues are formed every spring, and all summer long get together on various teams in just about every town/village in Marquette County-so plan on attending a game!

FLEA MARKETS

Several Flea Markets are held regularly in the area. The largest outdoor weekly Flea Market in Wisconsin is held every Saturday, May through mid-October, in the Princeton City Park.


JANUARY/FEBRUARY

  • NESHKORO: The Winter Fisheree takes place on the ice at the Neshkoro Mill Pond on the second Saturday in January, and features a large heated tent, food and refreshments. Cash prizes for game and pan fish, and a raffle drawing is held in the tent for the main prizes.
  • LAKE PUCKAWAY: Fisheree is held in late January. Cash prizes in three categories, and a heated tent! For complete details, contact the Good Old Days Resort on Lake Puckaway. (608) 297-2464. Sponsored by the Lions Club.
  • OXFORD: The Annual Lions Club Fisheree will be held the 3rd Saturday of February. Contact Greg Goodhue at (608) 586-5824 for complete information.

MAY

  • MONTELLO BUFFALO FEST: Memorial Weekend is also "Buffalo Fest" in Montello. Buffalo Burgers are grilled by the thousands, served with lots of cold pop, beer and other refreshments. There's live music for listening and dancing, ball games, and special games. All activities are in the City Park on Saturday & Sunday, May 24 & 25.

  • WESTFIELD: "Boot Scootie" Rib Chew with live entertainment. Held Sunday of Memorial Day weekend-May 25th-at Pioneer Park in town.

  • NESHKORO: The Annual Neshkoro Lions Club Chicken BBQ, takes place at St. James Place, on the north edge of town. Music, games and lots of chicken insures a great afternoon!

JUNE

  • ENDEAVOR: Firemen's Summer Fest Pig Roast (on Saturday) and Softball Tournament. Food & drink stand in the park. Call (608) 587-2482 for information.
  • WESTFIELD: Every year on the 2nd Saturday in June, Westfield plays host to June Dairy Days with their Dairylicious Days Celebration. The Chamber of Commerce hosts a parade, street dance with live music, and dairy food booths. The festivities take place downtown.
  • WESTFIELD: The Annual old-fashioned Ice Cream Sociable, hosted by the Marquette County Historical Society, is held in mid-June every year. The exact date varies according to the effects of the weather on strawberry-ripening time. The Historical Society headquarters-the Cochrane-Nelson House, located at 213 Lawrence Street-is where the Sociable is held. Take a tour of this historic house, learn about life in 19th century Marquette County, then settle back for a delicious serving of fresh strawberries and ice cream, dished up by costumed servers!

JULY

  • HARRISVILLE: The Annual 4th of July Celebration in Harrisville includes a parade, water sports, games, softball and lots of food! All the fun is sponsored by the Harrisville Lions Club, and is held in the spacious park.
  • MONTELLO: The Annual Rotary Club BBQ, co-sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce includes a fireworks display, ball games, food, refreshments and fun! This event is held in the City Park on July 5th.
  • OXFORD: This July 4th celebration is co-sponsored by the Lions Club and the Firemen.. Come to the Oxford Village Park for the Annual BBQ; also lots of other food and refreshments, plus softball tournaments. A fireworks display is slated.
  • WESTFIELD: Celebrate in Westfield July 4th with a parade, games, food, beverages and music. End the day with a grand display of fireworks.
  • WESTFIELD: Westfield is the host of the Marquette County Fair. All the traditional County Fair activities will take place, with livestock showings, 4-H and Homemaker exhibits, carnival, food, refreshments, games, bingo, tractor pulls, ball games-something for everyone

  • ENDEAVOR: The 42nd Annual Broiler/ Vegetable Festival is held at Endeavor City Park. Fine BBQ'D chicken, garden veggies, potatoes and more will all be cooked to perfection over a glowing bed of coals. Saturday you'll see "Mud Trucks"; Sunday is kids Mud Fun. Topped off with cold drinks, carnival rides, five music, games, tug-of,-war-you won't want to miss this fun! Enjoy the fireworks.
  • PACKWAUKEE: The Annual Brat & Beer Festival is sponsored by the Packwaukee Lions Club. There'll be lots of cold drinks & great food served in the Town Park on Buffalo Lake. Live bands, games & activities!

AUGUST

  • NESHKORO: The Annual St. James Catholic Church Picnic is held the second Sunday in August at St. James Place. On the menu: Chicken and ham with all the trimmings, cold refreshments, music, games, bingo' prizes, raffles-all served up with fun in mind!
  • MONTELLO: The Annual Father Marquette Days Celebration includes a parade, horseshoes, softball and volleyball, tons of food including a chicken BBQ and refreshments, live music, dancing, games, bingo and rides. A sidewalk sale and arts & crafts sale will also be held. This entire event is in celebration of the founding and settling of MonteUo-come and enjoy!
  • NESHKORO: The Annual Neshkoro Lions Club Horse Pull is held at their arena located just north of town on Hwy. 73 There will be lots of horses, riders and' competitions in horsemanship. Prizes will be awarded. Food and refreshments will be available.
  • WESTFIELD: The Westfield Firemen's Annual Chicken BBB includes a parade will be held, live music and dancing, lots of refreshments and great BBQ'D chicken!
  • HARRISVILLE: One of the finest Brat Festivals in the state takes place in the Harrisville Park. Come for brat, and all the trimmings, cold drinks, softball tournaments, volleyball, five music, games, raffles ... the Volunteer Fire Department hosts this event.

SEPTEMBER

  • WESTFIELD: The Annual Westfield Lions Club Golf Tournament is held at Thal Acres Country Club on the weekend after Labor Day. This two-day event is open to all-there will be prizes for best shooters. To get complete details on early registration, contact Thal Acres.
  • WESTFIELD: The Newton Township Volunteer Firemen's Annual Harvest Fest takes place at the Marquette Co. Fairgrounds, on Co. Hwy. M, on the south side of town. Dinner is Roast Pork with all the trimmings, served from 4-8p... Door prizes, raffles and childrens games, along with live music completes the picture of a fun evening!

NOVEMBER

  • WESTFIELD: The Annual Holiday Taste & Tour-always the Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving Weekend. This popular "swing into Christmas" event has been organized by area merchants and craftspeople.
